or
all of you political candidates out there (and Messrs. Bush and
Gore, thanks for the personal letters, it's nice to know you
both agree that reading this website before your daily meeting
with your staff is essential to you), it's important that I make
my feelings known on the Soliciting/Spam platform. Plain and
simple, I'm against them. In the last 4 days, it appears that
my home phone (one that I rarely use, since buying my cell phone)
has received 7 solicitation calls. In fact, yesterday morning,
I was woken by Arbitron, who wants to send me a poll and have
me fill it out for a dollar. Yesterday, some computer system
called and left a recording on my answering machine asking if
I wanted to refinance my home. And I live in an apartment! (Hmmm,
wonder if I could get a second mortgage on the apartment complex.....)
And email spam (or snail mail for that matter) is disturbing.
Why should I care if Britney Spears' nipple is exposed? I suspect
that it is every day when she bathes. Do I really believe that
I can make a million dollars a week by sitting in front of my
computer, or $400,000 a year by talking on the phone? Do these
ads actually work? Are there people out there who are actually
enticed by this nonsense? I think not, and I'm supporting changes
to the laws that make telephone and email solicitation capital
offenses.
I woke up this morning to the
sad news that the Governor of this state I reside in was killed
last night in a plane crash, somewhere just south of Mooville.
I'm not a big fan of politicians in general, but I have to say
that this kind of things makes me pause...and not only when politicians
are involved. It appears that only 3 people were in the plane,
the Governor, his son (piloting), and an aide. There have been
many of these kinds of small plane crashes, and it saddens me
that our society is such that it requires the fame of the people
killed to drive the situation into the spotlight. Each and every
person on this planet has friends, acquaintances, co-workers,
family, or just people who live around them. People always feel
the loss of a friend, and it should never be taken for granted.
My deepest sympathies are extended to all who knew him.
Bleh. More to talk about (digital
cameras) but no time. Much like at work, with all three of my
direct reports being gone the last 2 work days... I've been doing
4 jobs simultaneously....Hopefully, sickness will abate, and
my stress level will lower. 'Till tomorrow then!
