ne of the nice things about being semi-familiar with an area is that you're much more willing to take a chance during more critical times. I have memories of this area from when I was a child, visiting my grandparents, and from 2 years ago, when I was here with my parents over Christmas. After complaining in a phone call to Suz several weeks ago about my commute difficulties, she recommended a route that she used to take when she worked for EDS downtown, and lived here in the same community as I do. Yesterday morning, I tried that route, due to the reports on the radio. This morning, I'll do it again, based on the reports on the radio. I think it is just as fast as going on the highway, if the highway is moving. This morning, and yesterday, the highway wasn't. It only cuts about 5 miles off of the highway commute, but when traffic isn't moving, that's a good 15 to 30 minutes or so.

Spent much of yesterday berating myself for forgetting my cell phone, and settling into my new office. It looks like they're not going to put anyone in to share with me right away, and then when they hire a new artist, they'll pop them in with me. So, I'm enjoying the new found quiet, and in fact my productivity has gone up due to it. I'm quite pleased that I have a window, and can look north across the mesa to the foothills between Mira Mesa and Scripps Valley. I also get to control my own lighting situation, for a change. I don't like bright lights, but I do like some light.

I'm afraid that Melissa's current angst is due to the issues that I raised up in Vegas. I've been trying to keep out of the discussion on the bulletin boards, just so I don't cause her any more grief. In fact, I was quite careful when I was in Vegas, in an effort to keep the issue on a "professional" level, and not a personal level. The current stance by some of the participants in this discussion are that it is a personal slam against one person, due to who they are, where as, at least in my opinion, nothing could be further from the truth. I would have felt and done the same if it was a close personal friend, or relative, who had taken the same actions. Of course, I would have recommended much earlier to them that what they were doing was unprofessional, but I didn't know about the situation until just weeks before the event. The unfortunate part of all of this is that it has caused so much difficulty for people I consider my friends, and it shouldn't have. But once again, players are posting rumours, innuendo, and plain falsehoods about what the company I used to work for is doing, and what their intentions are, and generally speaking, they know that there is no advantage to the company in getting into a mud-slinging contest in public. I have to admire how well Melissa has been handling it, but I do feel guilty for helping her get into the situation.

Well, I have a billion things to do this weekend, including getting a haircut, so I'll be snipping this short (a little cutting humour, there). I hope Suz is doing well on her vacation. I miss reading her posts every day.
