am not in the target demographic that NBC was/is shooting for. In their coverage last night, they spent about an hour and a half vamping for the women's compulsory skating program. Maybe I'm exaggerating on that time estimate, but it sure seemed like a lot. In that time, I would have preferred to see coverage of some of the stuff they really haven't touched in their prime time slots. There are lots of other sports out there that deserve a bit of time...like Curling. Now, I know they're showing Curling over on either MSNBC or CNBC, as I saw a bit of it on Suz's recording last night, but wouldn't it be great if they would show just a touch of it on their regular NBC show? I know the US isn't competitive there, but I, for one, am not interested in just the American athletes, but in all the athletes. I am touched by the troubles that some of these folks have had to go through to compete. There is true human drama, great sport competition, and frankly, I don't need to sit here and listen to three commentators talk about practice for an hour. Show me the competition!

Of course, the Olympics are an outstanding reason to own a TiVo. I don't have to sit down in front of the TV at 7:30, I can plop down at any time. Since we usually don't get home until 6:30 or 7:00, that gives me a bit of time to make dinner, play a game, or whatever. Then I sit down, watch the 3PM coverage (skipping past the commercials) and then by that time, it is after the evening coverage has started. I get up, wander around, play some solitaire on my PC, and then go back down to watch. Because I get to skip the commercials, I usually end up at around 11 PM, at the same time as the coverage, without having to watch all the silly commercials (unless something catches my eye).

Suz has reminded me that in my post from yesterday, I mentioned NationsBank, who are really Bank of America. I guess I could have called them Sovran, too... or National Bank of Fairfax, or any of several other names that I used to bank with that were bought out by successive larger entities. It seems like sooner or later, there will be three banks remaining in the nation... Bank of America, Wells Fargo, and First Onion (Union).

I've decided to get someone else out to paint the satellite dish. It's up there about 30 feet, and I can just feel myself falling and breaking several bones. So, rather than try to scamper up on the roof, I'll hire someone who has a real ladder to do it for me. Lazy, yep, that's me!
