t was a weekend of interrupted sleep. Early Saturday morning (4:18AM by my clock), I woke up with my bed shaking. Turns out that about 45 miles north of me in Big Bear, CA, there had been an earthquake of about 5.4 on the Richter scale. My father, who was down for the weekend again, didn't even wake up. I guess it is the price a pay for not being a California native. I'm still not used to earthquakes, even though this was the third or fourth that I've felt since moving out here. And it was relatively mild and short for me, no more than 4 or 5 seconds. In fact, I'm not quite sure why it woke me, it was so gentle here. Last night, shortly after I'd fallen asleep, a pack of coyotes decided to serenade me. Now, in the development that I'm in, there are hills pretty much surrounding it, so it isn't unusual to hear them.... if you're outside. But these guys sounded like they were within about 100 feet of the house, perhaps down on the golf course. I'd guess there were about 8 or 10 of them, and they went on for several minutes. I suspect they come down to taunt the "house dogs" in the area. At least that is what I would do if I were them!

In other news, my father and I got the shelves primed on Saturday, and painted on Sunday, with two coats of black washable paint. They're currently still drying in the garage, but I'll get them set up tonight when I get home, and hopefully post some pictures soon. They sure came out nice, with the routed top, and a great cover of black paint. My only problem will be pulling off the few flies that thought sitting on wet paint was the thing to do. They should come off with a pair of tweezers without requiring touchup paint. I suspect they were attracted to the heat that was in the boards, as about 2PM a front came through that brought a significant cloud cover, and dropped the temperature down into the 60s.

My job function changed again on Friday, as there just wasn't enough work to support the position I was filling. I've been moved onto a sequel game that everyone is excited about. Causing a little stress for me, mind you, as I've got to fit into a team that is already going full bore. It'll be interesting this week trying to figure out how I'm going to fit in, but I have to say that the game itself looks just tremendous.
