he pictures of my new shelves are here and here (note, links are now fixed) . And no, Tracy, there isn't anything to worry about. These are an extension of the same method of construction and look as the TV stand, as you can see in the second picture. I think they came out rather well, with the rounded off top with my new router, and the matte black washable paint. In fact, I have more shelves than I could put up with the number of glass bricks I had. I suppose that leaves me room for expansion, but I didn't want it to get too tall given the occasional earthquake we have. The DVDs just fit in there, although I do think I may pull the whole shebang apart again, and slip little pieces of felt on the top and bottom of every glass brick. Not just for sound rattling, since I'm on a concrete slab here, but mainly to provide just a bit more space to slide the DVDs in. As you can see, there are some cases that just don't fit into the space, so I'm putting those on top. The best thing is that I have room to expand!

You may also notice the small shopping cart on top on one of the shelves. That was a gift from Suz when we moved out of the apartments I had chosen when I first moved out here. One of the wonderful features of that complex is that people used them as items with which to move all sorts of things, from trash to belongings. It was a rare day that we didn't have to negotiate around several shopping carts left out in the middle of the walkway just to get to our door. She found it at a store, and laughed so hard she just had to buy it for me. I have to admit, it was pretty funny.

We've been getting a bunch of rain (over 2 inches yesterday) again, and we're apparently finally back to "normal" after several years of what was considered drought. I started hearing about mudslides on the way home last night, so I suppose the ground is getting saturated. I do think that this rain does bring out the beauty of the hillsides down here, with the greening of the grass. The purple flowers are starting to bloom as well, something that always makes me happy.

Bleh, out of time. Wanted to talk about John's power for his film presentation, which fascinates me, as well as several other things, but I guess they'll have to wait. Ta!
