I helped a friend move, installed a new version of Virtual PC, installed an 802.11b network, and did the final work on my DirectTiVo by installing the last hard drive and a new fan. All in all a fairly successful weekend, and I think both Bill (my father) and I had a good time. We ate out at Karl Strauss Brewery Restaurant on Friday night after going to the Apple Store to pick up Virtual PC. It happened to be a good thing, as we found out that they are closed for dinner on both Saturday and Sunday to cater to weddings and other functions. That certainly would have put the kibosh on my plans to eat there Saturday! However, we got a nice table right by the pond, and enjoyed watching the lights shimmering in the water, as the multiple waterfalls distributed their waves. A very lovely place, that is, and oddly situated in the middle of a business park. I know they have a few other restaurants around, and I should take a gander at them, but I have to admit the Japanese Tea Garden setting of this one is quite lovely. Saturday morning was the move, and I have to admit that it fairly well wiped me out. We only took about 3 hours to move all of the stuff about a mile, but there were only a few of us, and 3 SUVs and a pickup truck. The rest of the day was dedicated to getting the Virtual PC installed, and recovering strength. Ah, well. I think I'm running out of "tasks" that have to get done. If I can get my taxes done this week, it may be time to do some more sightseeing on the weekend coming up. Now, if I can find more places that have gas at less than $2.00 a gallon for unleaded, I'll be much happier. OK, I'm off to do all the organizational things that have to get done on this website for the change of the month! |
