n interesting weekend, all things considered. It started off with going in to work on Friday, so that I could do an hours amount of work. During the drive in, a friend called, and is continuing to have difficulty in her marriage. Making a long story short, she's going to be renting my 3rd bedroom for a while. Of course, she needed some emotional support as well, which involved a long lunch, and then some work cleaning up the bedroom to make it usable. Totally wiped out, I didn't go to see any fireworks, but stayed home and vegged.

Saturday started even earlier, with me slipping in to work for that necessary hour before dropping off my car to get some work done on it. Fortunately, I'd remembered to bring a book, so the wait wasn't too tedious. It was quite pleasant to sit out on the lawn of the elementary school across the street and just relax in the shade. After that, I went home and did some more work around the house, moving some bookcases and DVDs around.

Sunday started off at work again, and then off to Sears. I've been rather unhappy with the dishwasher in the new house. I've run it four times, and each time I've had to handwash several items. I'd been looking at dishwashers from even before I actually bought the house, and rejected Bosch based on the reviews I'd heard. However, everyone had been quite positive on the KitchenAid product line, so I broke down Sunday and ordered one. It'll be a couple of weeks before I actually take delivery, but I feel that it is a necessary expense, and will be happy to replace the Hotpoint that is there. Oddly, it wasn't the noise issue that put me over the edge, as I had expected, what with the thing being basically right behind the couch in the living room! But in the end, the real issue was cleanliness, and the Hotpoint that is there is likely the original from 1988 when the house was built. The KitchenAid is EnergyStar compliant, so should take less water and electricity to run, with the added bonus of being quieter and getting my dishes clean. Now, it is just a matter of scheduling the delivery on a Saturday.

Next, what I'd really like to do is redesign the entire kitchen. I am constantly amazed by what I see on HGTV, and it makes me envious, but I look at the space I have, and just can't figure out where to start. I know it isn't terribly efficient the way it is laid out, but there has to be someway to access the storage space that currently runs back into the corner alongside the refrigerator. The small space available isn't killing me, it is the weird layout that restricts usage of that space. And, of course, it would be nice to have nicer covers to the cabinets. As indicated earlier, I've already orders sliding shelves for the places that will take them, but a rework of all of the storage space wouldn't be bad :) So, I'll continue to watch those kitchen remodel shows, and start figuring out a plan. My parents redid their galley kitchen after I moved out of the house, and did a wonderful job of it, so I have high standards to live up to.

With things at work as busy as they are, I'm not getting time to sit down in the morning and post, so these will likely be posted in the evenings, when I have the energy. I do want to keep up on these, just to keep the small group of people who read here aware that I'm still alive. I know there is a certain amount of happiness in my heart when I read other's posts (especially Johnny, who's finally posting again!)

So, in the grand scheme of things, I'm doing OK. Not wonderful, although I likely should be. The events of the last couple of years are still bouncing me around a bit, and I'm bumbling my way around the emotional corners that seem to be there.
