t is the shank of the weekend, and once again it fled without me noticing. Of course, it didn't help that I came home "early" on Friday night (spending an extra half an hour on the highway as a penalty) to meet a repairman who pulled out my old dishwasher and prepared the hole for the new one to go in. However, he didn't want to install the new one, as I've already paid the Sears guys to do it, in addition to dragging the old one away, which means I get to call the installation company and set up a new date for them to come out, which means next Saturday. Consequently, I'm in similar, although certainly less dire, straights as Dave, with the fact that the hot water valve for my kitchen sink and dishwasher supply line doesn't actually shut off all the way. I've got the silly tube hanging over a trash can which gets emptied every 8 or 10 hours, and it looks like it'll be that way for the next week. I also got dragged to the movies ($9.50 for a ticket? Good god!) to see Pirates of the Caribbean, which I enjoyed, but didn't get home until 1:30ish. With prices like that, I think I'm fairly close to stopping seeing a movie altogether in the theaters, and waiting until it comes out on DVD. I can purchase most movies at around $20, and then I have control over sound, don't have to listen to teenyboppers giggle over Orlando Bloom, or people's cell phones going off.

On the good side, I got my snifty new cabinet drawers delivered on Friday while I was away, and had the opportunity to install them on Saturday. Now, as a male, the first thing I did is look at the installation instructions, read them all the way through, and analyze my tool collection. I realized I was missing a key piece, and went off chortling to purchase a new power screwdriver that would allow me to drive the mounting screws in the back of the cabinet by "folding" the driver itself. Of course, being a new power tool, it did require 6 hours to charge, so I actually didn't get the first cabinet actually finished until around 8PM. This morning I did the second cabinet, and reinserted all of the stuff I'd piled around various flat surfaces while I was working inside the cabinets. Now, all I need is for that silly dishwasher to get installed, my bedroom TV replaced (yes, it broke last Sunday night...kaput!) and I'll be relatively happy. So, it is the end of the weekend, and I really didn't do much of anything. And another heavy week coming up. Joy.

I feel a rant about politeness and societal acceptance coming on, but I'm going to let that stew in its own juices for a while before I commit it to public scrutiny.

John, I "clicked here" to comment, but there's a javascript error that prevents me from commenting :) Beth, hang in there... despite how it feels, you're making progress every day. It just takes forever!
