reader, please accept my apologies for being remiss in my duty to update
this site. Unfortunately, time has been of a premium in my life, and I
just haven't had the inclination whilst being home to do aught but rest
and relax. Of course, I've been doing other things in addition to work...have
you ever been pleased with yourself for completing a job that wasn't a
big deal, but the sense of accomplishment completely outweighed any expected
profit thereof? A couple of weekends ago, I took it upon myself to replace
the locks on my house. Now, it used to have Kwikset locks, and I've always
been a bit suspect on their quality, despite the fact that they were owned
by the same company that for a time owned the company my father used to
work for. In any case, I had hightailed down to my local hardware store
and picked up 3 new doorknobs and a new deadbolt, all keyed to the same
key. It took all told about 10 minutes a door to replace them, yet the
satisfied glow that filled my being was worthy of a much greater job...
which amused me to no end. And this weekend I replaced a valve in my bedroom
toilet. Unfortunately, the satisfaction of a job well done wasn't there
for this one. Perhaps when I replace the leaking flapper on the guest
bathroom this weekend, I'll be able to fly high on my own joy.
I also wanted to question a dream I had last night. Would anyone know why:
1) E3 would be held in the hills and parks of Escondido, CA
2) the owners of half-life would be interested in licensing the engine I'm working on
3) there would be a nude conference meeting (much less why I would think about attending it)
4) Demi Moore would be fascinated to have dinner and a movie with me
5) I have to wake up at the worst time....
None of these things make sense to me. Nor why I should be dreaming about them. Ah, well, perhaps someone out there will be able to interpret this as psychological scarring for not having a pony when I was younger, or some such.
Not much else is going on... just work and sleep. See you soon!
